This book was so great was because of the anonymity of the characters. Because you didn’t know if he was really named Charlie, or if she was really named Sam. The whole point was that this could be anyone at your high school, or it could be you. And now we have a set definition of Charlie and Sam. Not cool.
I took this book out of the library in high school so much that the librarian would be like “This again?” and off I’d go to find a secluded spot in the school to sit and read. This book was such a comfort to me in those years. This should never ever be a movie, I just can’t watch it. Even if I like the actors their faces/appearance are not the same and that means so much to me I can’t possibly see it differently.
